Big in Japan: My Continuum Launches at Tower Records
A Return to Tokyo
Japan has always held a special place in my heart. From performing at the legendary Budokan for the Tokyo Music Festival in 1983 to receiving the TBS and Amity Awards, my musical journey has always been deeply connected to Japanese audiences.
That’s why I am absolutely thrilled to share that my new EP, My Continuum, has officially launched in Japan on the Cool Sound label.
Spotted at Tower Records
Seeing the physical CD on the shelves at Tower Records Japan is a surreal and grateful moment. It’s a beautiful reminder that music transcends borders and languages.
The Japanese release (Catalog No. COOL158) is a special edition tailored for fans of AOR (Adult Oriented Rock) and ballads. It features all five tracks produced by my friend and collaborator Lance Jyo, who is also well-known and loved by music fans in Japan.
For this project, Lance and I worked with an incredible team, including backing musicians like the legendary Robbie Buchanan and Joe Alfaro, to create a sound that honors the classic "West Coast" pop style while bringing something fresh and contemporary.
A Note on the Japanese Edition
For my fans in Japan, this release features some special details that make it unique:
Four Reimagined Classics: "My Forever Love," "Shine," "The Love You Give (To Me)," and "The Last Goodbye" are all new interpretations of songs from Lance Jyo's catalog that I personally selected to sing.
One Brand New Original: The EP features one completely unreleased original song, "Can’t Get Back The Time," which is exclusive to this project.
A Personal Touch: I was honored to contribute lyrics to both "The Last Goodbye" and "The Love You Give (To Me)," making them even more personal to my journey.
Celebrating with Friends
It’s not just about the stores; it’s about the people. I’ve received wonderful photos of the album being played and displayed at venues in Tokyo, like the Music & Bar Breezin'. Knowing that these songs—about love, loss, and healing—are being listened to in a city so far from where they were recorded in Hawaii is the greatest gift an artist can ask for.
